Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Clever Tales and the beta.

Getting started

What is Clever Tales?

Clever Tales is a story-first creative tool. In Clever Tales Studio, you write and structure a story, then turn it into cinematic scenes. Images for scenes are available now. Video, voice, and music are coming.

Do I need filmmaking skills?

No. Clever Tales is made for people who have a story to tell, whether or not they have made a film before. You bring the idea, characters, and choices. The studio helps you shape the story into scenes.

How do I get an invite?

Beta access requires an invite code. Use the invite code shown on our home page when you sign up for Clever Tales Studio.

Using the studio

What do I write, and what does the studio generate?

You write and shape the story: its characters, locations, and scenes. Clever Tales Studio helps structure that work into cinematic scenes. You can generate images for those scenes now. Video, voice, and music are coming. Think of it as an adaptation: your story is the book, the cinematic scenes are the screenplay, and every character and location gets a visual identity the scene images are built from.

Who owns the output?

Your authored story remains yours. We are still preparing the terms that will cover generated output before paid tiers arrive. If you need an answer for a particular use now, email studio@clever-tales.com.

Which AI models are used, and can I choose?

Clever Tales uses AI models to help with story work and image generation. Available model and generation options can change as we improve the product. When choices are available in Clever Tales Studio, you can select from the options shown there. We do not promise a fixed provider or model on this page.

How is my story data stored?

Your account identity is handled by Supabase Auth. Your story content is stored in the product’s hosted Postgres database and Storage. For current details about how your data is handled, see Clever Tales Studio.

Beta and credits

What does beta mean, and what are the limits?

Beta means Clever Tales is still being built and improved. Features, available generation options, and limits can change as we learn from use. Writing and structuring stories, plus images for scenes, are available now. Video, voice, music, and quality and review tools are still coming. Every account starts with 300 credits; there is no payment system yet.

What are credits, and what is free?

Nothing is charged during beta: there is no payment system, so you cannot buy anything yet. Credits measure generation use. Every beta account starts with 300 credits to play around. Every generation draws on them: drafting and expanding the story costs a little, generating identities and cinematic scene images costs more, and video, voice, and music will use credits when they arrive. If you run out during beta, tell us on the feedback page or at studio@clever-tales.com and we will top you up while we learn.
